Set amidst a tropical landscape, The Thick Forest features traditional bungalows that overlook Sigiriya‘s Rock Fortress. This non-smoking resort offers complimentary WiFi access and has an open-air מסעדה which serves local dishes and drinks. Located 4.5 metres from the ground, the wooden bungalows have large windows that provide plenty of natural light. Each is equipped with a fan, mosquito net and private balcony. With a 24-hour front desk, the resort bicycle rental services, while travel and sightseeing bookings can be made at the tour desk. The Forest is 700 metres from the Sigiriya Tank and 1.2 km from the Archaeological Museum. It is 2.2 km from Boulder Gardens and 44 km from Hingurakgoda Airport.

"Amazing pool! Great staff always around to help if you need anything. You feel like you’re in the bush with a lovely view of Lion Rock from our treehouse balcony. Within walking distance to both rocks and some local restaurants just down the road. Breakfasts were good."

"Amazing green location, feels remote and you are surrounded by nature, but still within small bicycle or tuktuk ride from the village with restaurants and shops. They have a lovely swimming pool with lounging beds!! Watch your snacks at the pool (monkeys!) The host is most friendly and radiates kindness. The grandpa you wishes you had. A genuine great person!"
"Be aware that the road at night is dangerous, as it lies next to a nature reserve with elephants. We got to hear them chewing before sunrise when we were waiting for tuktuk pickup to sigyria, an amazing experience. Tourists are not allowed to walk/bicycle in the dark, so you are dependent on tuktuks for getting around if you want to get dinner. Wifi was unstable and theres no reception (in case you have a local simcard). But the host is happy to arrange whatever you need!"
"We initially were hesitant on arrival at the property as it was a little out of town and looked a little run down. We were quickly made to feel welcome by the staff . They couldn’t do enough for us. Organising tuk tuks, preparing dinner etc. the room, although dated was clean and we all had a good sleep. They even prepared a 5am breakfast for us so we could take on our tour to Lion rock. Overall a great stay"

"The hosts are very very accommodating and eager to help with everything needed. The accommodation tho is more like a camping, with doors not closing tight, not always warm water available, and a lot of flora and fauna around. So if you have issues with bugs in the house and lack of warm water, it is not for you. If you are ready for a small adventure, it is very great! The view is astonishing to the Lion's Rock out of the window!"

"We really liked the location, we had a view of the lion rock - which, as well as the pidurangala rock, were super close. the host offered us bikes we could ride, for free, to get anywhere we wanted! the breakfast was authentic and delicious, we were so full! sadly we only stayed for one night so we never got the chance to use the pool they have, we would come again!"
