Maison CHILO

"This is a chef hotel. The food was excellent. Excellent traditional French dinner at a reasonable price. Excellent and wonderful, there is no other word. I can see some saying this is not modern cooking but for us it was excellent. We arrived at the hotel by chance. We were on our way from Spain to Biarritz and the hotel we planned was full. So we found this place and it was wonderful. The room and the family. Everything was fantastic. The area is breathtaking. Simply breathtaking in its beauty, we enjoyed every minute. The hotel's atmosphere and not to mention the food and most of all the nice, efficient and pleasant staff. The parking is just next to the room... It is also recommended for a stop and you can think of coming there for a few days to rest. A simple paradise."

"The staff and owners of Maison Chilo are wonderful, nothing is a problem and they make a stay here very relaxing. A clean room and bathroom are always welcome and the pool and garden spaces are nice to have ( it was 30 degrees when we stayed there) The next largest town, Oloron I think is a good visit especially on market day where we bought some excellent cheeses very cheaply."

"I would make a couple of suggestions but perhaps they are personal ones not necessarily shared by everyone. I would edit out from the welcome folder the rule that there is to be no food found in the room subject to a 50 euro fine. I don’t think this represents the good nature of this place. Secondly I would add a couple of a la Carte items to the menu. Currently there are three very good set menus but that’s hard to take every day!"

"The most beautiful hidden gem - a little piece of paradise. Fantastic garden areas with lovely pool. Very tranquil. Excellent and welcoming service from start to end. Complete focus on making our stay relaxing. On top the restaurant is absolutely magnificent. Five star food with innovation and at the same time simplicity. Made with local produce and served beautifully with a focus on the presentation. I would reccomend this place to anyone and everyone."

"The location is beautiful in the foot hills of the Pyrenees. The hotel is 19th c. Two old town houses joined together with a modern kitchen and restaurant extension. Lovely gardens and swimming pool. The room was fine, but as it was in the eaves, it would have been great if the air con worked. Fantastic restaurant. Good service. They liked dogs. Quiet."
