"Rustic but attractive small hotel in the beautiful hilltop village in Vézelay. Our balcony had lovely views over the wonderful surrounding countryside, and our slightly quirky bathroom had everything we needed including a good sized bathtub. Choice of restaurants which were all within walking distance. Very good value for money."

"The ground floor room was comfortable with a patio area overlooking the gardens. The hotel was situated an the lower end of the town near the main road and bus stop. The breakfast was good and although the hotel don’t do evening meals the staff kindly made a hot cheese and ham sandwich."

"Hotel was ideally situated to easily visit everywhere we wanted to go to. The room was very pleasant, everything needed for a 2 day stay. Breakfast was good."

"How friendly and helpful the staff were. The tourist season hadn't really started yet and the restaurants weren't all open. Actually only one the 1st night of our stay and we hadn't booked and it was full. The proprietor of Le Compostelle was wonderful and rustled something up so we wouldn't starve."

"The decor is very old and simple and could do with refurbishment. The simple pilgrim hostel style is fine and nice but it just needs a bit of improvement."
